ACT 50MW Next Generation Solar Auction

Invitation to Partner.

Response required by 25 June 2015

E2Designlab are representing three significant projects being submitted as a response to the ACT Government’s call for EOI in ‘Next Generation Solar 50MW’ action plan.

These projects have a clear point of difference of approach, with demonstrated holistic benefits to the ACT in terms of community, research, education and development. 

These projects are:

  • University of Canberra Community Project
  • Canberra Institute of Technology Microgrid Project
  • The West Belconnen Project

Energy and water specialists E2Designlab are seeking partners who could enhance these projects.

University of Canberra Community Project

Rolling out over 10-15 years, this new residential project is intended to be a showcase of holistic place-making. This means that will involve more than just solar technology and storage: it will integrate urban planning, architecture, environmental science, public health and others. To the ACT Government, this will point the way to the community of the future, over and above technological improvements.

Canberra Institute of Technology Microgrid Project

CIT is establishing the Centre of Excellence for Renewable Energy Skills. CIT plans to enhance its existing high-tech facilities to create a working microgrid on its Bruce campus. The microgrid will include rooftop and carpark PV, battery storage and control systems, designed to work towards a zero net emissions campus. The project is supported by the ACT Government, and addresses many items in Action Plan 2.

The West Belconnen Project

The Riverview Group, in conjunction with the ACT land Development Agency, is planning, designing and developing 4,500 homes on the north-west fringe of Canberra with many more to follow. The project is committed to exemplary energy and water outcomes. It may include technologies such as distributed and centralised solar with battery storage, pumped hydro energy storage, home energy management, a microgrid, community involvement and others. The project takes a holistic approach to merge energy technologies with good community and Territory outcomes.
